Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter (GJAS), a non-profit 501(3)(C), is launching its first capital campaign in order to raise $400,000 for much needed shelter renovations and expansion. The shelter space is no longer adequate to meet the needs of the daily operations of staff, volunteers, and the animals in our care.

The total project will cost $800,000; fortunately, we have raised about $400,000 over the last few years. We are presenting a “Naming Opportunity Sponsorship” program to raise the additional $400,000. Room sponsorship will be recognized with a permanent plaque on the room and an additional acknowledgement on the lobby wall. To kick off the campaign, a generous friend of the shelter has sponsored the lobby.

The 3,700 sq ft project will include separate dog and cat isolation areas, an intake/treatment room, separate cat/kitten rooms, and two play areas for the cats and kittens. We will include a dog meet and greet area, a break room for staff and volunteers, and we will expand the lobby and office. The dog kennels will be updated with new epoxy flooring, new pedestrian doors, and air conditioning and new fencing will be added to increase the number of play yards.
